The Best Homemade Lasagna

A classic recipe for homemade lasagna that the whole family will love.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 3 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 jars (24 ounces each) marinara sauce
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat.
  3. Once meat is cooked, drain excess fat and stir in marinara sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Layer 4 lasagna noodles, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, one-third of the mozzarella, and more meat sauce.
  7. Repeat layers ending with noodles and remaining meat sauce. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake covered with foil for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until cheese is golden.
  9. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For best flavor, let the lasagna sit for a few hours or overnight before serving.
  • Can be made ahead and frozen for up to 3 months.
