Lasagna with Bechamel Sauce

  • 9 sheets lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups bechamel sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. In a baking dish, layer 3 lasagna noodles, followed by half of the meat sauce, one-third of the bechamel sauce, and a layer of mozzarella cheese.
  7. Repeat the layers and finish with a final layer of noodles topped with bechamel sauce and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until bubbling and golden brown on top.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with mushrooms or spinach.
  • For added flavor, consider seasoning the meat sauce with Italian herbs.
