  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract, mixing well.
  4. Slowly incorporate the flour and salt until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough in half and mix in the crushed candy canes into one half.
  6. Layer the plain and candy cane dough, rolling it into a log and chilling for 30 minutes.
  7. Slice the chilled log into cookies and place them on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar.
