- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cans (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic. Cook until the meat is browned and onions are translucent.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Spread a layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer noodles over the meat sauce. Spread over a portion of the ricotta mixture, followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with meat sauce and remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
- Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 45 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.
