Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls

Delicious homemade chocolate cinnamon rolls that are perfect for any occasion.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, butter, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough and spread melted butter, followed by cinnamon and chocolate chips.
  6. Roll the dough tightly and cut into rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased pan and let them rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes.
  9. Mix powdered sugar and cocoa powder with a little water to make icing and drizzle over the rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
  • You can add nuts or dried fruit if desired.
