Scale
6 cups peeled and sliced apples
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Toss until apples are well coated.
Fill the pie crust with the apple mixture and dot with butter.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 35–45 minutes, or until apples are soft and the pie is golden brown.
Notes
For a sweeter filling, add more sugar to taste.
Let the filling cool before using it in pies to avoid a soggy crust.
