  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage, cooking until browned.
  5. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir in the tomato paste.
  6. Add the oregano, basil, salt, and pepper, mix well.
  7. Simmer the gravy on low heat for at least an hour, stirring occasionally.
  8. Serve hot over your favorite pasta.

Notes

  • For a spicier gravy, add red pepper flakes.
